WordPress is free software that you can install on your web server to create your own website, blog or community. It’s a brilliant tool and I can highly recommend it. I use for all of my websites.
I started developing websites many years ago before ‘plug n play’ existed. If you wanted functionality for your website you had to code it up from scratch yourself and believe me this was a very long-winded process.
Fortunately things have moved on apace and now thanks to WordPress ‘Plugins’ you can add extra functionality within minutes and in most cases for no extra cost.
Benefits of using WordPress
- WordPress is a CMS (Content Management System) so it means you have total control over your web presence
- It’s very easy to use and you don’t need to be a web developer to use (basically if you have a working knowledge of tools like Microsoft Word and a bit of IT knowledge you’ll be ok)
- It’s easy to expand and add functionality to
- It’s not going anywhere – WordPress is here to stay and there is a massive community out there to support it
Trust me, don’t bother with anything else, stick with WordPress and you’ll be fine.
